NINTH DESIRE β VIDEO / PRIVATE MESSAGE
[The video opens to Ryuunosuke sitting in a nondescript room, leaning back in a chair nearly to the point of falling over, with his legs propped up on a desk. Sitting beside him are two Liepards, both of who are watching their trainer curiously.]
Valentine's Day is coming up, isn't it?
[The question is clearly rhetorical, and Ryuunosuke brandishes a rose at the camera, playing with the petals and smirking. He looks a bit unhinged today, but hopefully the dim lighting in the room will make that a bit hard to see.]
How do you celebrate Valentine's Day? I guess I've been pretty unlucky - or lucky, depending on how you look at it; I've never had a girlfriend on Valentine's Day. Seems my timing's always just a bit off.
[He plucks a petal and lets it fall to the ground.]
At least it means I don't have to buy into the holiday commercialism and all that. Though I am pretty fond of chocolate...
[Another petal falls, then he smirks at the camera.]
But that's not really the point. I want to know what you guys have planned for this pointless little holiday. I like hearing how different people celebrate; some of your celebrations are pretty cool.
[A pause. Ryuunosuke lowers the chair back to the ground and cups the rose's petals in both hands before snapping them shut, crushing the flower. He's smiling sweetly, his expression is completely dissonant in comparison to his cold tone.]
Maybe it will be slightly more interesting than everything else in this dull world.
[The video comes in a little while later and Ryuunosuke looks completely bored. He's leaning on the desk this time instead of being propped up on it, and he's doodling something on a piece of paper while he talks.]
I recorded my matches with the elite teams. I'll send them over after this message. What I really wanted to ask you about is jobs. I've been getting restless lately and I just want to do something, you know? So do you have any jobs for me to pull, sir?
[He stops drawing and reaches over to shut off the feed. A moment later, two more videos follow, featuring battles between Ryuunosuke and Morty and Ryuunosuke and Jasmine. The battle against Morty is rather boring; just a crushing defeat where Ryuunosuke's Absol practically sweeps Morty's team on its own. The second video is a clear loss for Ryuunosuke though he doesn't seem bothered by it. Unfortunately, Ryuunosuke was only able to see five of Jasmine's Pok&eacaute;mon before he was wiped out, but that should be a decent idea of her elite team.]

Kimblee doesn't seem too concerned when he responds to Ryuunosuke's message; if anything, he's looking somewhat entertained.]
You do seem as though you're getting anxious, if that earlier video is anything to judge by. Is everything well, or is it really just a matter of boredom?
no subject
[Said like this is the greatest tragedy to befall mankind.]
There's a lot I can't do here due to how this world works. It's really unfortunate, because a lot of it was a key part of my identity, you know?
[A frustrated sigh and Ryuunosuke picks up his pen again, frowning at the paper. If you look closely, you can see it's a sketch of a female torso! ...it appears to be missing a head though...]
Yeah, it's boredom, I guess. I don't like sitting around and that's pretty much all this place is good for.
no subject
[His expression remains calm once that explanation is out there; thankfully the feed isn't showing off quite how badly his hands have twitched under the table at that.]
I understand what you're referring to, to some extent; it's never a very pleasant thing to go through. I'm experiencing something very similar myself, actually; it's almost uncanny.
But you won't be forced to sit around much longer; where are you, for the time being? Goldenrod still?
no subject
[Ryuunosuke actually brightens at that; it's rare to find people who actually understand him. He's long since accepted that people will never fully understand his ideals, but it's human nature to want people to sympathize with you.]
That's great! Well, it's not great that it's happening to you too, but it's great that someone else understands what it's like. It's horrible. I'd give anything to be able to go home right now. Don't get me wrong, I like this world and the Pokémon and the people here, but I just really miss the things I could do back home and Bluebeard.
[Ah, right, but Kimblee asked a question. He nods to get himself back on track.]
Yeah, I returned to Goldenrod a little while ago. I mean, I've got a job at the Game Corner, but that's really the only thing keeping me here. I've thought about travelling, but it's just too much effort. I mean, what's the point?
[He shrugs. The Badges aren't worth his time, after all.]

Perhaps I'll take you out for a while soon; let "Seth" make another appearance. Something complicated, that will actually test your skills. It isn't anything like the fun you're used to back home, I'm sure, but it'll be something, at the very least.
no subject
[He might be a bit excited, considering that he's talking at about a mile a minute...]
no subject
...I didn't realize you were quite that bored. I'll see what I have for you; in the meantime, how did you like Morty? Other than easily defeated, from the looks of it.
no subject
[A pause, then Ryuunosuke snaps his fingers, remembering something.]
He told me to evolve my Haunter! He wouldn't shut up about it either, he was all like "Gengars are great! You just need to find someone to trade with so it can evolve, but it will be so useful!" The nerve of that guy! Haunter is fine just the way he is, I'm not going to evolve him!

[...Gen...gars lets not with Gengars]

Well, I'll have to clear it with someone first - but if all goes well up the chain of command, I'll send you to have a bit of proper fun with him. I don't care what you do; personally, I have reason to not like the man, so it matters very little to me in the end.
If you get my drift.
no subject
[A pause. Ryuunosuke calms down a bit, leaning on the desk and propping his chin on his hand.]
What reason do you have no to like him though? Anything I should be keeping in mind if this goes through?
no subject
Nothing in particular; we've just had some rather heated disagreements.
Granted, most revolved around things that this organization should or shouldn't do on his property, and he wasn't quite aware that he was having those disagreements with me, per se.
Let's just say that Seth has made a few appearances in Ecruteak, hm?
no subject
[Ryuunosuke's grinning wildly at that; clearly he's pleased to have something to do.]
What do you want me to do? Bust in and beat him up?
no subject

[Ryuunosuke throws back his head and laughs then, the sound unhinged and high-pitched. He clutches his head for a moment and can't seem to stop laughing or shaking.]
This--! This is going to be-- it's going to be the greatest cool!!
no subject
Well, I know that if anyone can render it "the greatest cool," you're the one to do it, yes.

[Well.]
I'm glad to see you so enthusiastic. You'll have some time to prepare; I'll confirm the date with you as soon as possible.

As for the question you were posing to the network earlier, I don't celebrate most of the holidays here; I had never even heard of them back in Amestris. However, I have my own anniversaries that I intend to celebrate rather well here; I'll have to keep you posted with regards to that as well. I imagine you'll like what I have in mind.
For now, focus on Morty; I'll have an assignment for you in Olivine shortly after that goes through, regardless of how well things go in Ecruteak. Providing some...motivation, let's say, for an associate of ours; from his previous work, I suspect he likes the same sort of fun you do. We've given him an assignment; I want you to oversee it.
We'll keep you busy for the next several months; don't worry about that. Understood?
no subject
[Horrible pun intended!]
In Olivine, huh? I was actually planning on heading out that way to meet with Reaver - you know him?
no subject
Well, we're aware of the new year, so to speak, but we don't have any sort of large celebrations for it - anything done in that regard is rather personal. As for Christmas...no, we don't, though I think that's perhaps a bit more expected - from what I understand, it's a religious holiday? We don't have the same holy figures that you do, and I believe our understanding of God is completely different from yours.
And you've met Reaver, have you? He's actually the one we're sending you after, so that's immensely convenient; I trust you get along with him well enough?
Um back home, the women usually hand out chocolates to any male friend around this time. A month later, the men do the same thing, usually with more value.

On some years I've made an effort to be out of reach, but that doesn't usually help. Otherwise I spend the day hoping it would be over soon.

[Though from the sound of it, he doesn't find it very lucky at all.]
Are you expecting the same thing to happen here?

Let's just say that I can see where you've been single whenever this holiday comes around.

Really.
[can you hear the lineface because oh my god]
Then I guess it's fortunate that you know better, isn't it?
what are you even doing with that rose
dear lord
well ryuunosuke is from his world so it's not like he's going to bother answering that first question, but-]
...if you think this place is dull then you really aren't looking in the right places. The overcommercialized culture, certainly, but trying to figure this place out is enough to keep one occupied
